| In addition to many events the Foundation attends
during the course of a year, be it being present at a National or Provincial Fire Fighters
or Fire Chiefs Convention or a local or regional festival, none is more enjoyable,
rewarding and emotionally stimulating as the Annual Christmas event held each year at the
burned children's Plastie clinic of Montreal's Ste-Justine Hospital.
Each Christmas, since its inception, the Foundation, with the
generous help of several of its suppliers, has been proud to help make the festive season
a special time of year for these young burn patients.
Volunteers, representatives and Executives of the Foundation give
out presents and souvenirs to the young patients and mingle and interact with the parents
or guardians of the children.
All in all, a good time is had by most but the grim fact remains
that the children present at these festivities are also, for the most part, outpatients
and their reason for being at Ste-Justine Hospital on that special day is also for
treatment; a treatment that is difficult and often painful. Yet, looking at their young
smiling faces, one is in awe at their courage and understands why burn victims are so
often referred to as "Reservoirs of Strength" |
